DETERMINE LEAGUE AGE

Mansfield-Ashford Little League offers softball for girls league age 6-16 and most ages have multiple programs available based on skill level.  The first step is to determine your child's "league age" for softball by  viewing the chart below or using the little league age calculator here: https://www.littleleague.org/play-little-league/determine-league-age/.  Once you have your league age, review the division descriptions below  to see what divisions are available for you.  If you are tee ball age, please go to our Tee Ball Information Page.

ROOKIES SOFTBALL (LEAGUE AGE 6-8)

Rookies is an instructional coach pitch division.  Coaches are permitted on the field during games to pitch to their own players and reinforce defensive positions on the field.  Player-to-player pitching is introduced in the second half of the season.  Teams will have 7-8 players to maximize player activity.

Uniform:
 -
Coaches will identify to Parent/Guardian the appropriate team jersey and hat for purchase on Squadlocker.  Parents/Guardians can elect to purchase socks and pants through Squadlocker or their preferred sporting goods provider.  In an effort to display cohesion on the field, please follow the direction of your coach with respect to pant and sock color.
- Players will select a number that will belong to them within their age bracket to be reserved for them throughout their seasons with M-ALL .  Please do not order a jersey without verifying that their desired number is available. Orders should be placed as soon as possible once assigned to a team to ensure that they will be in for Opening Day, April 19th
Equipment:
 -
Parents/Guardians will provide Player with cleats and a glove.  It is recommended that you purchase a bat and helmet for independent practice.  Team helmets and bats are available during practices and games but will remain with the coach.
- M-ALL has a limited number of batting helmets available to borrow on a first come, first served basis.

Managers/Coaches Meeting: Mandatory M-ALL managers/coaches meeting is scheduled in March.  The Coaching Coordinator will be in contact with all coaches.
Mandatory online training must be completed prior to evaluations through Little League University.  Please watch for an email from JDP to complete the questionnaire to perform your background check.

Mandatory Evaluations: All players, including any league age 6 players that have participated in at least one year of Tee Ball, are required to attend player evaluations in March.  Evaluations are used to evenly distribute players on teams based on their skill level.  Save the date for March 15th! If you believe your child should be playing in a different division, please complete this form prior to evaluations: https://forms.gle/PHUQaRX2NF3Ex5Ss8. After the registration period, and completion of player evaluations, we will consider your request against overall registration numbers, evaluation results, and coach feedback to determine if your request can be accommodated. True "league age" players must be placed in their respective divisions before consideration of moving players up. You will be notified by email of the outcome of your request. Once your player has been placed on a team, they will remain on that team for the entirety of the current season.
